Description
Hill 614 area, Korea, 1951-02-23. A wounded soldier, possibly 2/3359 Private (Pte) Kevin Colin ('Tich') Ellis, 6 Platoon, B Company, 3rd Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (3RAR), lies on a stretcher as he awaits evacuation for medical treatment. To keep him warm, a blanket has been placed over him and the flaps of his pile cap folded down around his face. A stretcher bearer (left) stands to the rear of the injured man's head. Wounded in an assault on Hill 614 held by Communist Chinese troops, Pte Ellis later died of his wounds. (Donor I. Robertson)
