Description
Sokkong Valley area, Korea, 1951-02. Members of the 3rd Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (3RAR), cluster around a stretcher carrying a wounded comrade, as they fasten it to the pannier or pod on the side of a US Army Bell 47D-1 Sioux medical evacuation helicopter. Snow lies on the ground in front of the helicopter and blankets the hill in the background. The injured soldier was wounded in an assault on Hill 614 held by Communist Chinese troops. (Donor I.
