Korea, c. 1951-04. Informal outdoors portrait of Private (Pte) Jack Clark, a despatch rider with the 3rd Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (3RAR), sitting astride a motorcycle. Pte Clark was at this time the despatch rider for the battalion's second in command, Major Wally Brown. Pte Clark is sitting on the mororcycle used by his friend and fellow scrambles rider in Sydney, 2/400030 Private Robert (Bob) Parker. Pte Parker was the despatch rider for the battalion's commanding officer, Lieutenant Colonel (Lt Col) Green, and after Green's death Lt Col Ferguson. Pte Clark became the commanding officer's despatch rider after Pte Parker was captured by Communist Chinese troops and became a prisoner-of-war (POW) on 24 April 1951. (Donor I. Robertson)
