Description
Ondangwa, Namibia. 1989-10. A South African Defence Force (SADF) trip flare, a jar wrapped with string, tied to a post, inside the Australian camp. The Australians are here as part of the second contingent to UNTAG (United Nations Transition Assistance Group). After several break ins into the camp this flare was set up to prevent repeat occurrences. The flare is approximately the size of a 410 gram tin and lights up an area of 150 metre radius. The night after the flare was set up a goat walked through the compound and triggered off the flare.
