Description
Ondangwa, Namibia. Namibian voters queue outside a polling station, situated 300 metres north of the Australian base, during the elections. People dressed in their best clothes to come and vote, and many are carrying umbrellas to shade them from the 45 degree heat. A United Nations Buffel MPV (Mine Protected Vehicle) is parked in the middle ground. An Australian contingent to UNTAG (United Nations Transition Assistance Group) provided security for the elections in the form of a Ready Reaction Force. This force consisted of twenty men in who would visit all the polling places in Buffel MPVs and be on call to deter trouble.
