Studio portrait of SX11479 Raymond Horace Coker (1900-1945). Coker enlisted in the 1st AIF on 17 February 1917 at the age of sixteen, saying he was eighteen and one quarter years. In World War 1 he served in France with the 2nd LROC (Light Railway Operating Company). He re-enlisted in the 2nd AIF on 20 July 1940 at the age of forty years and served with the 4th Motor Transport Reserve, 8th Division. He was taken prisoner by the Japanese in Singapore on 15 February 1942. He died as a prisoner of war (POW) in Sandakan, Borneo, on 7 May 1945.
