Description
Tins, crates and boxes of garbage stacked up at the garbage collection point located at the Ngoc Huong Hotel, the quarters occupied by RAAF servicemen in Vung Tau. The garbage had to be kept within the confines of the RAAF living quarters otherwise local Vietnamese people would scavenge through the garbage and steal the bins. At left, a runabout or small motorboat stands behind the garbage, while at right a pair of water skis leans against a wall and some bicycles stand in front of it. (From report on 'Living and Domestic Areas' by Flight Lieutenant Ian Favilla, 1967-01-27, Department of Air file 652/13/39 part 1) The boat was probably originally from Saigon Tan Son Nhut airport.
