Vung Tau, Vietnam, 1967-01. Part of the Airmen's Club in the courtyard outside the blockhouse at the Ngoc Huong Hotel, the quarters occupied by RAAF NCOs and airmen in Vung Tau. Tables and wicker chairs are set out next to the tower (left) of a water tank. Hoses run across the courtyard, while folded chairs, a drum, a bicycle and a table stand next to the wall (right). Water lies over part of the courtyard due to uneven surfacing and inadequate drainage. Paint and plaster are peeling from the walls of the building because of water damp. The windows have bars across them like gaols and have no wire netting to keep out flies and other insects. (From report on 'Living and Domestic Areas' by Flight Lieutenant Ian Favilla, 1967-01-27, Department of Air file 652/13/39 part 1)
