Cairns, Qld. 1944-01-11. In the Operations Room discussion is held between the officers before a briefing of RAAF Catalina pilots. Left to right: 406565 Flying Officer (FO) J. H. Hill of North Perth, WA; 391 Squadron Leader (later Wing Commander) H. G. Havyatt of Edgecliffe, NSW, Commanding Officer; 413925 Flight Lieutenant W. W. Davis of Newcastle, NSW, Captain; 122778 FO F. N. Howland of Clarence Gardens, SA, Briefing Officer. Wing Commander Havyatt was later killed in a sea battle in the Java Sea on 21 May 1944.
