Description

Collection relating to the Second World War experience of No.75 and No.76 Squadrons, RAAF, New Guinea and Australia, c.1941-1945.

Collection consists of one green-covered typed notebook containing mess songs from No.75 and No.76 Squadrons, who were operating from Port Moresby. The songs are anecdotal and often bawdy, discussing themes such as comradeship, the environment, home life in Australia, the girls they missed, general squadron life, the danger of encountering Japanese aircraft, and the quirks of their machinery.

Frequent topics are the enamour the squadrons have with the aircraft they are flying - largely Consolidated PBY Catalinas, and Curtiss P-40 Warhawks (Kittyhawks).
