Description

Studio portrait of Petty Officer George Gillick Scott RAN who served aboard HMAS Sydney II. Scott was the personal coxswain of Sir John Collins who commanded the Sydney from 16 November 1939 until 15 April 1941. Scott was lost in action when the Sydney was sunk on 20 November 1941 during a battle with the German cruiser Kormoran off Carnarvon, WA. All 645 personnel on board HMAS Sydney were lost.
