Fairbairn, ACT. 1945-07-06. An RAAF band leads the escort and gun carriage bearing the casket carrying the body of the Prime Minister, the Right Honourable John Curtin, onto the tarmac at the RAAF Base Fairbairn. The casket was loaded into a RAAF Douglas C47 Dakota aircraft (A65-71, VH-CIN) to be flown to Perth where the funeral took place on 1945-07-08. (Donor J. Crouch)
