Description
Collection of QX62238 (Q52) Lieutenant Alan Hooper, Australian New Guinea Administrative Unit (ANGAU). It includes letters and messages from outposts mentioning food, wireless sets, and Japanese movements. Many of these are written on scraps of paper, indicating shortage of supplies. Includes letter from civilian asking advice on safe location for his family, also providing information about Japanese movements and Kanakas loyal to Japanese. Includes Japanese occupation currency, envelopes of philatelic interest, and folder titled `published correspondence'. Hooper published a book titled `Love, War and letters'.
