Dutch New Guinea. 1944-09-21. 36378275 Private First Class (Pfc) Albert F. Johnstone, US Army, of 6726 South Emerald Grove, Chicago (III), USA (top), T/5 William H. Day, US Army, of Florida, USA (lower), T/5 Fred J. Krappman, US Army, of New York, USA (right), American servicemen aboard Martin PBM Mariner aircraft, serial no. Many of the passengers carried aboard Martin Mariner flying boats are American servicemen who, while obedient enough to crew orders, "sure curl themselves up in the damndest places and attitudes". The average load would be 30-36 passengers and two tons of mail.
