Cairns, Qld. 1944-09-27. Martin PBM Mariner flying boat aircraft of No. 41 (Transport Sea) Squadron RAAF at its moorings. The distinctive gull-wing is shown clearly in this front view. A load of passengers is going aboard from a bomb scow on the boat's port side and a launch filled with mail waits on the starboard side. Maintenance men are completing a pre-flight inspection of the starboard engine. Note the wing-supported scaffold.
