Description

British Pattern 1875 1st Model Henry Rifle Sawback Bayonet and Scabbard. The straight crossguard stamped RA35, has a muzzle ring diameter of 22.1 mm and a spade shaped quillon. The leather grips are secured to the tang by four rivets, only three being visible on the right hand side due to the locking bolt spring. The Pommel has a locking bolt press stud is on the left side and is stamped 796 on the top. The mortise slot on this bayonet will not fix on the Martini Henry rifle. The sawback blade has a single fuller on each side for half the length to 200mm from the double edged spear point.The sawback has 29 teeth and extends for nearly 175 mm. The scabbard is black leather with a sheet steel chape and button stud locket which is stamped 39 on the throat. The leather is spattered with white paint and has a bend crease 90 mm down from the locket.
