Haramura, Honshu, Japan, c. 1950-09. Informal outdoor portrait of a member of the 3rd Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (3RAR), standing with a pack on his back and his arms folded across two pouches attached to his belt. Behind him is a narrow muddy track with pools of rainwater lying on each side of it. The soldier is taking part in a training exercise in preparation for 3RAR's move to Korea from BCOF.
