Description
Haramura, Honshu, Japan, c. 1950-09. Lying awkwardly across the front seats of a jeep, a member of the 3rd Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (3RAR), takes a nap during a break in a training exercise that the battalion is undergoing in preparation for its move to Korea from BCOF. Using his hand for a cushion, the soldier is resting his head on a box of ammunition for a Vickers machine gun. The butt of his .303 rifle leans against the side of the vehicle (left), while his slouch hat rests on the vehicle's bonnet (right).
