Honshu, Japan, c. 1950-09. During a break in a march, members of the 3rd Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (3RAR), rest on either side of a road that passes through a Japanese town or village. At right, two soldiers are leaning on the window sill or counter of a street-front shop from which they may be buying soft drinks. A pram or baby carriage stands on the road next to them. The soldiers, carrying packs, water bottles and .303 rifles, are returning to Hiro after taking part in a training exercise at Haramura in preparation for 3RAR's move to Korea from BCOF.
