Description

Probably Sinanju area, North Korea, c. 1950-10. Young men and women from the South Korean Red Cross organisation treat and bandage the wounds of some North Korean prisoners-of-war (POWs). The Red Cross workers, some of whom may be doctors, are distinguished by the Red Cross armbands they are wearing. On the ground in the centre of the group are some bottles of medicine and some scissors. The first aid treatment is taking place outdoors, beside a rural road.
