Sinanju, North Korea, 1950-10-23. As a sign of gratitude for their liberation from North Korean forces, North Korean peasants line the roadside and throw apples to members of the 3rd Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (3RAR), who are riding aboard an American 6x6 CMC CCKW truck that is travelling in a convoy of military vehicles. Written on the truck's bonnet is the name 'Elaine'. The soldiers were grateful for the apples as their rapid advance northward had outrun their supply lines and they were hungry.
