Description
Sinanju, North Korea, 1950-10-23. As a sign of gratitude for their liberation from North Korean forces, a group of North Korean peasants, mainly women and girls, waves flags of welcome to members of the 3rd Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (3RAR), as they approach the town in a convoy of military vehicles. One of the flags (centre) is that of the Republic of Korea. On the road behind the group of civilians is a Bren gun carrier carrying 3RAR soldiers. The town lies in the background.
