Townsville, Qld. 1944-10-31. Organised and trained by Miss M. McCauley, and with the necessary male voices on stage for this Russian item, a WAAAF choir in costume rendered excerpts from "Balalaika" and received vociferous encore requests at the 3rd RAAF/WAAAF Handicraft Exhibition held at the RAAF Recreation Centre, The Strand on 1944-11-01 and 1944-11-02. Miss McCauley, assistant to Captain E. Curtis, Salvation Army welfare worker attached to WAAAF units at Townsville was formerly on the ABC staff.
