Description
Korea, c. 1950-10. A member of the Machine Gun Platoon, 3rd Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (3RAR), sits and reads a book in his dugout which overlooks a road running past terraced paddy fields. At left, an Owen submachine gun is leaning up against a .303 Vickers medium machine gun with many spent cartridges lying beneath it. Behind the soldier, some sandbags are stacked in rows along the front of the dugout, while resting on its edge (right) are some shell dressings, a box of ammunition with a tarpaulin folded on top of it and a rolled up sleeping bag next to it.
