Description

Australian members of the United Nations Assistance Mission In Rwanda (UNAMIR) checking their equipment in the Headquarters Compound courtyard. With the exception of uniforms and equipment that could be sterilized the Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service (AQIS) directed that many personal issue stores were to be left behind. Items such as webbing, packs, sleeping bags and rations were burnt before the contingent returned home to Australia. Most are wearing UN caps and or the blue tee-shirts of B Company, 2nd Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (2RAR).
