Collection relating to the Second World War service of Lieutenant General Stanley George Stavige, II Corps (formerly 17 Brigade and 3 Division), 1939-1945.

Wallet 1 of 1 – Wallet contains Lieutenant Gavin Keating’s Bachelor of Arts Honours thesis titled "The right man for the job: An assessment of Lieutenant General S.G. Savige as a senior commander”. The thesis was submitted in 1995 at the University of New South Wales, Australian Defence Force Academy. The thesis discusses the strengths and criticisms of the style of leadership of Lieutenant General Sir Stanley George Savige KBE, CB, DSO, MC, ED. It assesses his performance as commander of 17 Brigade (in Bardia and Tobruk, Greece, and Damour), of 3 Division (in Australia and the Wau-Salamau campaign), and II Corps Australian Military Forces (at Bougainville). Keating published in 2005 "The right man for the right job: Lieutenant General Sir Stanley Savige as a military commander", which covers the entire career of Lieutenant General Savige.
