Nelson Bay, NSW, 1942-12. Australian troops disembark over the sides of a Landing Craft Personnel (LCP) during an exercise at the Joint Overseas Operational Training School (JOOTS). Most are carrying .303 rifles with fixed bayonets. Note the wire mesh laid across the sandy beach to provide traction for vehicles.
