Soputa, New Guinea, 1943. Cast members on the stage of an outdoor theatre giving a fascist salute to an actor portraying Adolf Hitler at a concert given by members of the 36th Battalion, Australian Military Forces (AMF). The concert party called themselves the "Austerity Auditorium Players" and designed the banner seen behind the soldier at far right.
