Description

Simpsons Gap, Port Moresby, c. Early 1942. A beach signalling light being set up outside its temporary cover. NX127634 Lieutenant Rowland Leslie Logan, 53rd Battalion, Australian Military Forces (AMF), is examining the light cover, the soldier on the left is unidentified. On 27 August 1942 Lieutenant Logan and NX127633 Lieutenant Colonel Kenneth Harry Ward were killed by a sniper on the Kokoda Trail and are both buried at Kokoda War Cemetery.
