Description
Flying logbook, telegrams, newspaper cuttings, letters written to wife while stationed at Darwin with Group H (later Group 662), 2 Squadron RAAF. Describes flying Hudsons on reconnaissance trips and bombing raids over Dili and other Timor locations, Ambon, "dog fights" with Zeros, Japanese recon and bombing trips over Darwin, attitudes towards Japanese and Americans, locating crash survirors of HMAS Armidale in rafts at sea, dropping supplies to Australian operatives in Timor, accommodation, rest home for Squadron, and family news. Many tender love letters, depicting the pain of separation, to wife who was staying with family at Lake Eacham Hotel, Yungaburra. FO James went missing over the Timor Sea in April 1943.
