Description
Anzac Cove, Gallipoli. 1915-12-19. Sergeant (Sgt) Cyril Lawrence (left) and 231 Sgt Herbert Foulsum, both of Headquarters, No. 2 Field Company, Royal Australian Engineers, stand in the entrance to the Headquarters dugout on the day they were evacuated. Sgt Lawrence in his caption has written `A minute later the only shell of the day blew the mailbox sky high. Note shell case in front just where it fell. Hill at back too steep to climb'.
