Outdoors group portrait of the officer trainees or cadets of No. 3 Platoon, No 5 Officers' Training School, Royal Military College (RMC), Duntroon. The group includes, together with the units the men came from: Sergeant (Sgt) J.W. Howie, 18th Battalion; Sgt J.P. Lloyd, 1st Battalion; Sgt A. Freedman, 3rd Battalion; Sgt S. McNeilly, 3rd Trench Mortar Battery; Sgt P. Painter, 55th Battalion; Sgt J.R.G. Gardiner, 45th Battalion; J.G. Bain ?, 13th Battalion; Sgt J. Regan, 53rd Battalion; Sgt William H. Welding, 12th Light Horse Regiment; Sgt T.J. Griffith, 34th Battalion; Sgt Nagle, ? 34th Battalion; C.M. Geddes, 3rd Battalion; Sgt Sydney D. Burrows; Sgt H.A. Widdop, 18th Battalion; Private G.N. Connell, 2nd Battalion; Sgt T.R. Mullin (?Wilson), 2nd Battalion; Sgt Fred C. Callins, 6th Light Horse Regiment. The platoon members undertook the officers' training course in 1918-11 and 1918-12.
