Description

Garoka, New Guinea, 1945-11. The RAAF Aircrew Rest Camp known as 'Lamana', meaning 'Eternal Springs', which is located in the highlands at an altitude of 5,000 feet. At centre, the RAAF flag or ensign flies from the yardarm on a flagpole which stands among well-tended rows of shrubs, part of the camp's elaborate gardens. In the background stand several thatched sleeping huts or dormitories.
