Description
A soldier in uniform leans on a cane and smokes a pipe. On his left there is an oversized ink bottle and a stack of papers labelled 'KIT SHORTAGES', and on his right a similar stack labelled 'CRIMES'. The soldier is hunched over and wears glasses, giving an impression of someone elderly. The artist's given name was Vasco Loureiro but he enlisted as Louis Vasco and has signed his name 'Vasco', 'Spr Vasco'.
