Description
Hammersmith, London, England, c. 1918-06. Interior of the erecting shop at a factory where De Havilland DH9 aircraft are being manufactured. A number of men, a few boys and a woman (left) are at work putting the finishing touches to the aircraft. All of the men and boys are dressed in collar and tie or bow-tie, and several are also wearing aprons or dustcoats. The factory, located in Cambridge Road, belongs to the Alliance Aeroplane Company operated by Waring and Gillow Ltd Decorators, who were based in Oxford. (Donor R. Bastiaan)
