Description
Darwin, NT. 1940-11. Members of No. 2 Anti-Aircraft (AA) Battery, 2/1st Australian AA Regiment at Oval Camp, located at a local sports ground, during a live fire training exercise. The gun crew at centre rear are manning a mobile 3 inch AA gun that has had the wheels removed from its carriage. The two gunners on the right are observing exploding rounds and possible relaying firing instructions to the gun via the large board on the stand between them. Note the sports stand in the distant left. The battery had been based at Oval Camp since July 1940.
