Description
Suez Canal Area, Egypt, 1916-03. A camel train transporting men and equipment from the 6th Battalion outpost camp to Alexandria. The Battalion camp was being dismantled prior to the unit's transfer to the Western Front via Marseilles. The remaining tent and horse lines, equipment dumps and a few men are in the middle distance. Some of the camels are being ridden by Australians while others are led by Egyptian locals. (Album housed in AWM Archive Store at P02276) (Donor A Thomson)
