Foggia, Italy. 1943. Ground crew personnel of No. 3 (Kittyhawk) Squadron RAAF, operating in Italy refuelling an American Liberator after its participation in a raid over Germany. RAAF crews are called upon to service many different types of aircraft apart from those used in their squadron, as most bombers are based in North Africa and are dependent on Australian maintenance when operating on protracted flights.
