At sea. 1917-12. Troops, including members of the Light Motor Wireless Squadron (LMWS), `D' Troop, 1st Wireless Signal Squadron, Mesopotamian Expeditionary Force, sitting and lying on the forecastle of the transport A38 HMT Ulysses on their way to the Middle East. This vessel carried nearly two thousand troops, including reinforcements for nearly every AIF unit. Consequently there was barely resting room on the decks for all the men at once.
