Ourmat Ali, Basra, Mesopotamia. c. 1917-01. The railway station at Ourmat Ali (?Gurmat Ali) which was an important railway and shipping centre. Note the two men in uniform in the small railway cart approaching the platform. They are possibly members of the 1st Wireless Signal Squadron which was supporting the British Cavalry Division, Mesopotamian Expeditionary Force, with communications in the area. (Donor A. Skerritt)
