Description
c. 1916. Turkish money issued to commemorate the Turks' victory over the British Army under General Townshend at Kut-el-Amira in Mesopotamia. The banknote is numbered No. 894456 and has a sketch of camels and horse drawn artillery beside a stretch of water lined with palm trees. Kut was re-taken by members of the Mesopotamian Expeditionary Force, including the 1st Wireless Signal Squadron, during operations in late 1916.
