Baghdad, Mesopotamia. 1917-03. Captain Michael James Hillary OBE DSO, 1st Wireless Signal Squadron, speaks with an operator at mobile wireless `C' Station erected during operations on the Diala and Khalis Canal. The unit was operating with the British Cavalry Division (6th and 7th Cavalry Brigades), part of the Mesopotamian Expeditionary Force. Note the reels on which the aerial wire was wound and the wireless apparatus in use below the mast.
