Kasri-i-Shirin, Persia. 1917-05. Informal portrait of members of `AA' Station, 1st Wireless Signal Squadron, outside their tent which has been pitched amongst ruined buildings. The large stain on their tent is engine oil. They were serving with the Mesopotamian Expeditionary Force providing communication with British headquarters from Baratov's Russian forces (1st Caucasian Division) as they moved along the Persian Road to Hamadan.
