Rangoon, Burma, c. 1945-08. Led by two RAF service policemen (right), the Japanese aircrew of two Mitsubishi Ki-57 'Topsy' transport aircraft which have just landed at Mingaladon airfield make their way across the landing strip in front of a large crowd of British Army and RAF servicemen. The pilots and other aircrew of the Imperial Japanese Army are escorted by another RAF pervice policeman (left), while a RAF official photographer (extreme left) moves ahead of the group to take photographs with a camera he is carrying. The RAF service policemen are distinguished by the armbands they are wearing. The policeman at extreme right is a flight sergeant, while the man behind him is a junior officer. The aircraft have brought Japanese envoys, including Lieutenant General Tokaza Numata, Chief of Staff of the Japanese South-East Asia Command, who are to surrender local Japanese forces in a formal signing ceremony.
