Burma, c. 1945-07. Members of Force 136, together with aircrew from No. 357 Special Duties (SD) Squadron RAF, pause while wading through a leech-infested stream on their way to a jungle village where a group of Japanese soldiers had been attacked a few days before by RAF fighter aircraft. The man on the extreme left is Captain Trofilov MC, commander of the local subunit of Force 136, while the man third from left is Squadron Leader George Turner DSO, CO of No. 357 Squadron. Force 136 was a guerrilla unit that reported on the movements of Japanese forces and harrassed them whenever possible. The men of No. 357 Squadron have flown in two of the squadron's Westland Lysander IIA aircraft (not in view) to deliver supplies to Captain Trofilov and his men. (Donor W.
