Baghdad, Mesopotamia. 1917. A member of the 1st Wireless Signal Squadron, Mesopotamian Expeditionary Force, seated on a bed in a ward of the 31st British General Hospital which was housed in the former Turkish Infantry Barracks. Due to the high incidence of disease most of the men were at one time patients in this hospital or in the 23rd General Hospital outside the North Gate of the city.
