Description
Hit, Mesopotamia. 1918-02-25. Aerial view of the town showing the British trenches of the Mesopotamian Expeditionary Force at the top and the famous bitumen wells. On the bank of the Euphrates River is the town itself and the large caravanserai on the left where members of No. 3 Station, 1st Wireless Signal Squadron, found living quarters. The two adjacent buildings on the waterfront were the British Headquarters (seen in P0562.091).
