Cairo, Egypt, 1915-04-04. Members of the 3rd Battalion, 1st AIF, about to board a train to Alexandria where they will board troopships that will take them to Gallipoli. Several soldiers are standing or lying on top of the railway carriages at rear. Both the soldier standing (extreme left) and the man leaning out of the carriage window (left) are smoking pipes.
