Sadiyeh, Mesopotamia. 1917-11. Members of the 1st Cavalry Divisional Signal Squadron, part of the Mesopotamian Expeditionary Force, crossing the Tigris River on their way to operations at Tekrit (Tikrit). Each signaller is holding his horse as they move in single file across the pontoon bridge. They had come up from Baghdad along the western bank of the river.
