Gaunus, Kalat Shergat (Shargat), Mesopotamia. 1918-10-29. Members of No. 10 Station, 1st Wireless Signal Squadron, Mesopotamian Expeditionary Force, swim their horses behind their boat while crossing the Tigris River at the Gaunus crossing. Another member of the station wades through the water towards the boat. They were taking part in the Kalat Shergat offensive, their final encounter with the Turks before the Armistice. (Donor A.
